About our leather: three finishes, three ways to wear it

The leather we choose depends on the garment we are making. Our close-fitting lingerie and corsets use aniline glove leather supplied by Southcombe in Somerset. For black jeans, skirts and shirts we use semi-aniline Madrid lamb nappa; for coloured versions, we use pigmented Valencia lamb nappa.

Aniline glove leather for lingerie

Our Southcombe glove leather feels exceptionally soft and supple, with a fine natural grain. In close-fitting pieces it can develop a patina and mould to your body shape with wear. At approximately 0.55 mm, it gives us the flexibility we want for fine lingerie seams and corsets. We previously used Pittards glove leather, but its older washing advice must not be applied to Southcombe leather.

Madrid for black garments

Our black jeans, skirts and shirts use Madrid, a 0.6–0.7 mm Italian lamb nappa. Its semi-aniline finish leaves some natural grain visible while giving a more even appearance, with the soft drape and structure we want for these pieces.

Valencia for colour

Our coloured jeans, skirts and shirts use Valencia, a 0.6–0.7 mm Italian lamb nappa with a pigmented surface finish. GH Leathers lists Valencia in 52 colours, giving us a broad palette for these garments.

Care depends on the leather and the finished garment. For more detail on the finishes, our suppliers and caring for your piece, read About our leather. Please ask us about your particular garment before washing or treating a mark.
