Our Leather Suppliers
Mostly, we use three types of leather here at Lux. Pittards kid glove leather is the thinest, softest and comes in the smallest size skins. Soft as butter and thin as silk at 0.45mm: used unlined for all of our mens and womens underwear, or as a top layer in our corsets. Pittards have a small online shop where you can by single skins. Softest Lamb nappa is around 0.8mm, perfect for skirts, trousers and corsets, but slightly too thick for underwear. We buy all our lamb nappa's and all of our exotics like snakeskin, from The Identity Store, in Matlock. They are passionate about leather and carry a vast range.
Calf skin, large size in black only, perfect for trousers and long dresses. All the softness of lambskin but with the skin size and strength of calf. Supplied by Jamie Midgely at A W Midgely & Son, Cheddar.
We buy our fur from House of De Clifford. Again, they are totally passionate about fur and incredibly knowledgable.
We buy our off the peg hardwear at Le Prevo - great service, very helpful. And our Made to measure stainless steel is made for us by the brilliant guys at Just Stainless just down the road from our Bristolk Studio.
