MEASURING YOURSELF FOR AN OVERBUST CORSET
Relax and don't pull the tape too tight. You want to measure your normal,
comfortable posture. To begin, please tie a string or ribbon around your
waist so that we can use this line to measure up and down. If you wear
a bra, then it's helpful to take the measurements whilst wearing one
1. How Tall Are You?
2. Measure down from the nape of your neck to your waist
BUST
3. Measure your chest, this is above your bust from armpit to armpit.
4. Bust: wrap the tape around you at the fullest point, usually at the
nipples, to measure your bust.
5. Measure from the fullest point down to your waistline, in a straight
line.
6. What bra size do you usually wear?
7. Measure your underbust. On women, this is taken at the place where
your bra band rests, or at the base of the pectoral muscle for men.
8. Measure the distance down between this point and your waistline.
9. Measure the distance up between this point and your nipple.
10. Decide where you would like the top of the corset to come up to on
your chest AT THE CENTER FRONT. Mark your skin here with a tiny dot with
the pen. Measure from this point straight down to your waist.
11. Decide where you would like the top of the corset to come up to on
your chest AT THE SIDE FRONT (directly above the nipple.) Mark your skin
here with a tiny dot with the pen. Measure from this point straight down
to your waist.
WAIST
12. Measure your waist.
13. What waist reduction would you like? For women just starting 3 to
4 inches is really comfy, whilst for men it's 2 to 3 inches, the difference
is down to our different bone structure around the ribs.
HIPS
14. Measure your hips at 3" below your waistline.
15. Measure your hips at 5" below your waistline.
16. Measure around your hips at their fullest point.
17. How far down from the waist is this?
18. Measure from your waistline to the point at which you would like
the bottom point of the corset at center front. Hold the tape measure
in place and sit down, making sure that the corset will allow you to do
this comfortably, otherwise the corset will dig into your leg!.
19. Measure from your SIDE waistline to where you would like the corset
to finish on your side hips.
20. Measure around your hips at this point
GENERAL
21. What colour would you like your corset? What colour for the edging
and lacing? You can even specify lining colour if you wish, or it's fine
to leave it up to us.
22. If you have ordered suspenders, how long do you want them from the
bottom of the corset (they will be adjustable, but we need an idea)
